Description | Four ink sketches of a seated man. These sketches feature the same man in slightly different poses, leaning to his left with his hand resting on his chin and elbow resting on a surface. Three of the sketches are three quarter length studies, while one sketch in the lower left of the page seems to be an attempt to understand the position of the man's crossed legs.
These figures and compositional sketch are potentially preliminary sketches for a portrait of William Lindow, although they have previously been linked to a 1772 portrait of Richard Cumberland.
Page features multiple ink marks and spots.
