Description | Three ink sketches. The sketch at the top of the page depicts in loose lines a man seated and reclining, resting his head against his hand while his elbow leans on a ledge. This sketch appears in a square as a compositional sketch. Below this are two three quarter length sketches of a man stood, leaning on a ledge to his left with his hand under his chin. These two sketches feature shading and the sketch to the right has a good level of detail in the sitter's face.
These figures and compositional sketch are potentially preliminary sketches for a portrait of William Lindow, although they have previously been linked to a 1772 portrait of Richard Cumberland.
Page features multiple ink marks and lines outside of sketches.
