The National
Portrait Gallery Archive holds two categories of record:
- Gallery Records -
those records created by the Gallery itself and identified for permanent
preservation because of their ongoing historical and research value
- Collected Archives
- material that has been acquired by the Gallery from external sources
because of its relevance to the study of British portraiture
