DescriptionDyer writes that he has not made much progress with the portrait of Dean Stanley; Dyer writes that the light has been so bad that he thought it best not to delay his work; Dyer writes in regard to the Venetian paintings and that he has not observed anything to lead him to believe that tempera was used as ground work, but this could possibly be the case; Dyer writes that the Venetians had a subtle way of dealing with their colours; Dyer writes of a portrait of Mrs Ellice and the improvements he has made on the painting.

Letter contains handwritten annotation [by Seton Watts]: 'This does not refer to G. F. Watts portrait of Mrs Ellice, but to a painting (old I think) upon which he asked some advice'.
