Extent1 piece (3 pages)
DescriptionLaurie writes that the two pigments he sent Watts had been exposed for twelve months, without change; Laurie writes of Venice turpentine which he sourced from Bell [John Bell and Co.] of Oxford Street; Laurie writes that Watts' painting methods are valuable and is sure that if Mrs Watts was persuaded to begin to write them down Watts would find many interesting details worth mentioning, 'for instance the actual list of pigmnets, the medium you dilute them with, the experience with Purple Lake, the varnishing'.
