DescriptionLauries writes that the delay in responding to Watts' letter was caused by being busy lecturing; Laurie writes that he likes Watts' method of painting; Laurie writes that he admires a little copal in painting as it is a humid oil and rather soft and writes that he likes petroleum as a diluting medium and that it is available through a chemist; Laurie advises that it is not an absorbent ground but should be used after the picture is thoroughly dry to varnish it; Laurie writes that pictures in London are bound to be coated with dirt so should be protected by something; Laurie thanks Watts for his invitation and writes that he will visit about twelve.
