In the first Watts writes that he is unwilling to 'give up the fattened oil' but will take Taylor's recommendation and use it with others.

In the second Watts writes that he likes coarsely ground colours, but they must be sufficiently ground and 'not to be like an application of sand!'; Watts writes the he will journey to Surrey to work; Watts writes that he has lost a bill sent to him and requests another.

In the third Watts requests the coarse 'Flake White' to be sent to Limnerslease, sent in 'one of you new tubes with the large opening'.
