DescriptionTaylor writes that he will send Watts [distemper materials] the following day but notes that it will only keep for four or five days so if he needs further quantities he will need twenty four hours notice; Taylor writes that whitening the materials would tend to prevent it from cracking; Taylor writes of the tradition of Paul Veronese to add milk to the distemper to prevent it from cracking; Taylor suggests that Watts thin the size by warming it with milk in a 'jacquetted saucepan' before mixing the colours with it; Taylor writes that he wishes he had more practical expertise to help Watts.
